The play follows six Londoners in the aftermath of a terrorist attack
Following its award-nominated run at Theatre503, Stuart Slade‘s BU21 will transfer to Trafalgar Studios in January.
The play, which follows six Londoners in the aftermath of a fictitious terrorist attack, is based on real testimonies gathered from a variety of terrorist incidents.
It ran at Theatre503 in March, in his review for WhatsOnStage, Matt Trueman called the play "deeply disturbing" and said that he had "not been so excited by a new voice since Alistair McDowall's debut Brilliant Adventures".
On the announcement, Slade said: "Terrorism is an inescapable part of the reality of life today, especially if you live in a capital city. In London, in particular, it’s not a question of if there’ll be another attack – but of when, and how bad.
"BU21 is my attempt to understand how people cope with, and potentially overcome, traumatic events in their lives. Based on exhaustive research from a range of terrorist events, it’s a play that faces the darkest of tragedies square in the face, but also leaves room for optimism and hope."
BU21 runs at Trafalgar Studios from 11 January to 18 February, with previews from 4 January.
