Joe Pasquale will star as Frank Spencer in the first ever stage adaptation of the TV show
Joe Pasquale will star as Frank Spencer in the first ever stage production of the 1970s TV comedy, Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em.
Written and directed by Guy Unsworth and based on the original show by Raymond Allen, the tour will open at the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon, on 21 February next year. The TV show first debuted in 1973, running for three seasons across five years and starred Michael Crawford and Michele Dotrice. It appeared 22nd on the 2004 poll to find the best British sitcom.
Also announced is Sarah Earnshaw (Nativity – The Musical, Travels With My Aunt, Wicked) who will play his long-suffering wife Betty in the tour, while Susie Blake (Pygmalion, Wicked, Noises Off) will assume the role of mother-in-law, Mrs Fisher.
Based in Bedford, the show sees accident-prone Spencer bumble through life and attempt to hold down a long-term job.
Over the course of 2018 the tour will visit Swindon, Buxton, Bromley, Portsmouth, Crewe, Aberdeen, Eastbourne, Dartford, Wolverhampton and Hull.
Some Mothers Do 'Ave Em will open at the Wyvern Theatre Swindon on 21 February.
