Soho Theatre and associate company OperaUpClose have announced Carmen as their next Summer co-production.

The new English language version of Bizet's opera, directed and adapted by OperaUpClose artistic director Robin Norton-Hale with composer Harry Blake, will run at Soho from 5 August to 19 September.

According to press material, "In a landscape of dust and concrete, small town boredom and machismo can turn nasty. Carmen is a captivating and provocative figure who disturbs the composure of everyone she encounters."

Previous OperaUpClose productions at the Soho include La bohème (2010), Don Giovanni (2012), Tosca (2013) and La traviata (2014).

Public booking opens on 23 March 2015. Casting is still to be announced.
