Following his success with the current David Tennant-led production of Richard II – which transfers from 9 December 2013 to 25 January 2014 to London’s Barbican Theatre, where it has already sold out – Royal Shakespeare Company artistic director Gregory Doran will reassemble the same creative team, and many of the same cast, as well as Antony Sher starring as Falstaff, for new productions of Henry IV Parts I & II.

The two history plays will run in repertoire in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon from March 2014 (Part I from 18 March, Part II from 28 March) with a double press day on Wednesday 16 April 2014, before running at Newcastle Theatre Royal and embarking on a UK tour next spring (dates still tbc). Next November, the productions will follow Richard II to London’s Barbican.

In addition RSC Honorary Associate Artist Antony Sher, Henry IV Parts I & II star Jasper Britton as Henry IV and Alex Hassell as Prince Hal. Both productions will be broadcast ‘Live from Stratford-upon-Avon’ to over 300 UK cinemas and abroad: Henry IV Part I on Wednesday 14 May and Henry IV Part II on Wednesday 18 June 2014.

The productions are directed by Doran and designed by Stephen Brimson Lewis with lighting by Tim Mitchell, music by Paul Englishby, sound by Martin Slavin, movement by Mike Ashcroft and fight direction by Terry King.

Other Richard II veterans include: Oliver Ford Davies, Elliot Barnes-Worrell, Sean Chapman, Jim Hooper, Youssef Kerkour, Sam Marks, Keith Osborn, Joshua Richards and Simon Thorp. Also in the cast are: Martin Bassindale, Antony Byrne, Paola Dionisotti, Jonny Glynn, Nia Gwynne, Jim Hooper, Trevor White and Simon Yadoo.
