The Mel Brooks musical based on the original film opens in the West End
The stage adaptation of Mel Brooks' classic 1974 film Young Frankenstein opens this month in the West End, so we caught up with the cast to get the lowdown on why it's such a comedic treat.
Hadley Fraser, who plays Dr Frederick Frankenstein made his West End debut as Marius in Les Misérables in 2002. His other theatre credits include Coriolanus, City of Angels and The Vote (Donmar Warehouse).
Comedian Ross Noble will play Igor. Noble is best known for his stand-up comedy and appearances on panel shows such as QI and Have I Got News For You. He has worked with Brooks in the past, appearing in the 2015 touring production of The Producers with Jason Manford.
The show has a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, with music and lyrics by Brooks. It opens at the Garrick Theatre on 10 October, with previews from 28 September. The film was directed by Brooks and co-written with Gene Wilder, who played Dr Frankenstein.
The show runs at the Garrick Theatre.
