Playhouse Announces New Season

The Whitley Bay Playhouse has announced the first shows that will appear at the venue following the refurbishment, these are:

Agatha Christie’s Murder on Air    21 – 23rd Sept. 09
 The Agatha Christie Theatre Company now presents three gripping radio thrillers from the Queen of Crime, read in an authentic studio setting with live sound effects, in the style of their original BBC broadcast.Two special guest stars join a full supporting company of actors to perform three of Christie’s classic radio plays.

Roald Dahl’s BFG      6 – 10th Oct. 09
An undisputed national treasure and the world’s favourite children’s author, Roald Dahl has enchanted young minds for more than twenty five years with stories that fire the imagination, bring dreams to life and release squeals of both terror and delight. This brand new stage show promises to mix up heart-pounding adventures with life-long friendships, jumbly words and even some whizzpopping in front of the Queen!

Bob the Builder 10th Anniversary Tour   12th Nov. 09
Can Bob fix it? Yes he can! Celebrating his 10th Anniversary this year, Bob the Builder’s Live Show, Spud’s Big Mess, returns to the UK after a sell-out global tour taking in 27 countries and performing to more than 300,000 young Bob the Builder fans.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat  1 – 13th Dec. 09
Bill Kenwright’s production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s family musical stars Craig Chalmers from the hit BBC series Any Dream Will Do.

Jack & the Beanstalk Christmas Pantomime  19 Dec – 3rd Jan.10
Starring Father Kerion Hobbs from Hollyoaks, Jake Hendriks, as Jack. This classic fairy tale turned pantomime, features the hapless Jack, Jack’s mother, their beloved cow, a handful of magic beans and a beanstalk with a very mean giant at the top of it!
