Which five showtunes would the star of ”It’s A Bird… It’s A Plane… It’s Superman” take with him to a desert island?
Craig Berry has theatre credits including Miracle on 34th Street and A Tale of Two Cities.
He is starring in It's a Bird… It's a Plane… It's Superman, which has transferred from Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre to the Leicester Square Theatre for a limited run. We caught up with him to ask him: "If you were stranded on a desert island, which five showtunes could you not live without?"
CB: West Side Story is my favourite show, the show that got me into musical theatre. I was lucky enough to get to play Tony at school and at the Spitalfields Market Opera House. This is my favourite number from the show, it's just an incredible meld of the different themes.
CB: This song has a deeply personal meaning to me, as it was the song played at the funeral when I lost my best friend five years ago. The song is beautiful, full of hope and never fails to move me to tears.
CB: This makes the list because it's my favourite song to sing. I use it at auditions and it usually goes down well. It's full of pathos, emotion and comes with a punch at the end.
CB: Another show that I adore the music from. "Endgame" for me is the most beautiful meld of voices, music and emotion.
CB: This show is very special to me, as it was when I got to play Max Bialystock in a fantastic regional production of this show that I was "spotted" by my agent and led to me following my dreams. This song was a magnificent exercise in both stamina and comedy.
