Cassie Compton was a finalist on the first series of The X Factor. Since then she has gone on to enjoy a varied stage career with credits including American Psycho, Les Miserables and Wicked.

It has just been announced that she will star as Julia in a new production of The Wedding Singer touring the UK from February next year.

We caught up with Cassie and asked her: "If you were stranded on a desert island which five showtunes could you not live without?"

5. "This Is Not An Exit" from American Psycho

American Psycho was a very special job for me. The show was unique and I love Duncan Sheik's score. I would pick every number if I could!

4. "A Boy Like That/I Have a Love" from West Side Story

West Side Story has one of the most beautiful scores. I remember going to see the show and being so moved by this song that I sang it at my school with a friend for a teacher's leaving concert. I'm not sure it was the most appropriate song for the occasion, but I enjoyed it!

3. "Right in Front of Your Eyes" from The Wedding Singer

Listening to The Wedding Singer ahead of next year’s tour, I have a bit of an obsession with "Right in Front of Your Eyes". It is contemporary musical theatre at its best!

2. "Coloured Woman" from Memphis

I was totally blown away when I went to see Memphis. Beverley Knight was out of this world. Her performance of "Coloured Woman" was just incredible!

1. "Someone Else’s Story" from Chess

Sometimes you hear a song and immediately connect with it, for me this was one of them. The lyrics are beautiful and heartbreaking. I always find an excuse to sing it if I can!
