The musical returns later this year

Darren Day (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie) will star as Sam Phillips in Million Dollar Quartet at the Barn Theatre.
The musical is based on the real-life events of 4 December 1956, when Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley came together for an impromptu jam session at Sun Records in Memphis.
The show follows the collision of personalities in the studio as ambition, rivalry and fame intersect, underscored by songs including “Blue Suede Shoes”, “Fever”, “Walk the Line” and “Hound Dog”.
The production will be directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, with a book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux. Further casting and creative team details are to be announced.
Barn Theatre CEO and artistic director Iwan Lewis said in a statement: “I genuinely couldn’t think of more perfect casting. Sam Phillips is an iconic figure who played such a pivotal role in shaping the music industry, and to have this role played by Darren Day, who has himself taken on some of the most defining roles in musical theatre, feels incredibly fitting. Our audiences at the Barn are in for a real treat.”
The production is running from 15 June to 22 August, with a national press night scheduled for 18 June.
