The ever-busy James Corden is reportedly in line to star alongside Daniel Mays in Nick Payne’s new play, while also being in discussions with director Rob Marshall about his forthcoming film version of Into the Woods.

According to the Daily Mail, Payne’s play is titled The Same Deep Water As Me and will premiere at the Donmar Warehouse directed by Irishman John Crawley.

Payne recently became the youngest ever winner (at 29) of the Evening Standard Award for Best New Play for Constellations, which is now rumoured to be in line for a film adaptation.

Into the Woods begins shooting in London this September
with a cast including Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp. According to BroadwayWorld, Corden is attached to play the Baker in Stephen Sondheim’s classic fairytale mash-up musical.

The projects could potentially clash but the Mail reports that, if schedules allow, Corden will take part in both.

And if all that isn’t enough to keep him occupied, the One Man, Two Guvnors star is also rumoured to be in discussions about a return to the National Theatre as part of Nicholas Hytner‘s final season as artistic director.
