Concord Theatricals has announced its acquisition of exclusive worldwide stage licensing rights to the acclaimed Jagged Little Pill.

The show features music and lyrics by Alanis Morissette and Glen Ballard, with a book by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody. The production narrates the story of a seemingly perfect suburban family, delving into the complexities lurking beneath their pristine facade.

Ballard explained: “We are excited that Concord Theatricals is taking Jagged Little Pill to so many stages! We are passionate about the messages and music in this show and it’s gratifying to have it brought to an even larger audience. It’s wonderful to widen the circle of this show and Concord knows how to do it!”

Cody added: “I am thrilled that Jagged Little Pill is being licensed by Concord Theatricals… We are in legendary company, and I have fantasized about this moment since our show’s debut. I am very grateful that our show can live on through Concord.”

The Broadway premiere of Jagged Little Pill took place at the Broadhurst Theatre in 2019, following a successful world premiere at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge Massachusetts.

The production was directed by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus, featured choreography by Tony Award-nominee Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and benefited from the musical supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements of Grammy, Tony, and Pulitzer Prize-winner Tom Kitt.

Notably, the Broadway production received 15 Tony Award nominations, with Cody securing the Best Book of a Musical award. The show was produced by Vivek J Tiwary, Arvind Ethan David and Eva Price.

It is unknown if there are plans for future productions on UK shores at this point, following previously revealed plans for a 2023 run.
