A new musical based on the life of the Gino Bartali will have its world premiere in London.

Glory Ride, penned by Victoria Buchholz (Lockdown) and novelist Todd Buchholz (original co-producer on Jersey Boys), follows the famous Italian cyclist Bartali as he secretly helped hundreds of persecuted Jews and refugees during Second World War by stashing falsified identity cards inside his bike frame.

The show was previously seen in workshops both in New York and Los Angeles with a series of concerts in London (at The Other Palace), this new run set to mark the piece’s first full production.

Directed by award-winning Come From Away choreographer Kelly Devine, it will play at the Charing Cross Theatre from 22 April to 29 July 2023.

The show’s creative team also features associate director Ricky J Hines, musical director Dave Rose, set, costume and video designer PJ McEvoy and casting director Harry Blumenau, while general management is conducted by  Smart Entertainment with Feredico Bellone as the Italian Cultural Adviser.
