Full casting announced for the RSC's A Christmas Carol

The new adaptation by David Edgar runs at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre until February 2018

Casting has today been announced for the RSC's 2017 festive show, a new adaptation of Charles Dickens' festive tale A Christmas Carol. Written by David Edgar and directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, the play refreshes and reinterprets the nineteenth century classic text with Dickens himself being portrayed on stage, while characters include Mrs Snapchat and Uber.

Phil Davis, known for his extensive TV credits, plays Ebenezer Scrooge. Previous theatre appearances include First Light and Pygmalion (Chichester Festival Theatre), Philistines (National Theatre) and The Gambler (Hampstead and West End), while also having roles in Riviera, Poldark and Whitechapel.

Further casting includes Nicholas Bishop, Tom Byrne, Gerard Carey, Sally Cheng, James Gant, Dinitia Gohil, John Hodgkinson, Beruce Khan, Verity Kirk, Luke Latchman, Bethany Linsdell, Emma Pallant, Vivien Parry, Joseph Prowen, Giles Taylor, Sarah Twomey, Jamie Tyler and Brigid Zengeni.

The show will also be designed by Stephen Brimson Lewis with lighting by Tim Mitchell. Music is by Catherine Jayes and sound by Fergus O’Hare. Movement is by Georgina Lamb.

A Christmas Carol runs at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre from 6 December to 4 February 2018.
