Siobhan Dillon will take on the role of Sally Bowles in the tour of Rufus Norris‘ production of Cabaret, which opens at the New Wimbledon Theatre on 28 August 2013.
She will join Will Young who reprises his role of Emcee, for which he won London Newcomer of the Year at the 2013 WhatsOnStage Awards.
The show, based on the stories of Christopher Isherwood and the play by John Van Druten, toured briefly last year before opening at the Savoy on 3 October 2012 for a 15 week run.
Dillon, who found her place in the spotlight when she appeared on the BBC programme How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?, recently took on another iconic role when she played Molly in the final nine months of Ghost‘s West End run.
Other cast include Matt Rawle, who will reprise his role of Cliff, and Lyn Paul, who will play Fraulein Schneider. Rawle has previously been nominated for WhatsOnStage Awards for his performances in Zorro and Evita. Paul recently returned to Blood Brothers to play Mrs Johnston for the final two weeks of its West End run, a role she originally played 17 years ago and reprised many times.
Valerie Cutko, who played Fraulein Kost in the 2008 run of Norris’ production, will also return to her role for the new tour. Linal Haft and Nicholas Tizzard will reprise their roles from the 2012 tour as Herr Schultz and Ernst Ludwig respectively.
Cabaret first premiered on Broadway in 1966 and was made into the Oscar-winning film starring Liza Minnelli in 1972.
Ensemble includes: Alastair Postlewaite, Alessia Lugoboni, Alexzandra Sarmiento, Cydney Uffindell-Phillips, Emily Bull, Luke Fetherston, Oliver Roll and Shahla Tarrant.
The production will open at New Wimbledon Theatre (28-31 August) before going to Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, Bradford, Eastbourne, Blackpool, Edinburgh, Dublin, Oxford, Tunbridge Wells, Hull and Wolverhampton.
