The last six recipients of The Scotsman Fringe First awards have been announced at a live ceremony in Edinburgh.

Now in their 44th year, the awards celebrate new writing premiering in venues across the Fringe.

The winners for this week are Wardrobe Ensemble's Education, Education, Education, The Last Great Hunt's Fag/Stag, Theatre Conspiracy with Aurora Nova's Foreign Radical, Alan Bissett's (More) Moira Monologues, 2b Theatre Company's Old Stock: A Refugee Love Story and Adam McNamara's Stand By.

Pleasance's Education, Education, Education charts the times of a young teaching assistant in the early Tony Blair years, becoming increasingly disillusioned with some of the policies placed in front of him. You can read our review of the show here.

Fag/Stag is a quiet two-hander, discussing the lines between attraction and friendship between two men. It runs at the Underbelly.

Summerhall's Foreign Radical is an interactive and intensive theatrical experience, where audiences are shepherded between different rooms, forced to collude and spy on one another.

(More) Moira Monologues is the follow-up to Alan Bissett's solo show at the Storytelling Centre, describing the life of the titular Moira as she becomes a grandmother.

Old Stock at Summerhall is a high energy piece of concert-theatre, inspired by the 1908 stories of Jewish refugees coming to Canada.

Finally Stand By follows four police officers in a fan, about to be called to a domestic dispute. The show exposes the stresses of working in high intensity environments, with audiences wearing earpieces throughout.
