The show will be available to a wider audience
Fawlty Towers will mark its 50th anniversary this September with a television broadcast of its recent West End stage adaptation.
U&Gold, which airs the original episodes, will show a recording of Fawlty Towers: The Play, produced by Phil McIntyre Television.
The play was adapted by John Cleese, co-writer and star of the original sitcom, using material from the episodes “The Hotel Inspector”, “The Germans” and “Communication Problems.”
The cast includes Adam Jackson-Smith as Basil, Anna-Jane Casey as Sybil, Hemi Yeroham as Manuel and Victoria Fox as Polly.
The play opened in the West End in May 2024 and ran for almost a year. It returned to the Apollo Theatre for a limited run before it tours the UK and Ireland later this year.
Cleese said: “I’ve been overwhelmed by the wonderful response to Fawlty Towers: The Play since its debut in the West End and it’s a pleasure to hear U&Gold will be bringing it straight to everyone’s living rooms just in time for the 50th anniversary.”
Specific air date is to be revealed.
