The WhatsOnStage Award-winning comedy from Mischief Theatre is playing at the Duchess Theatre
Producers have announced that The Play That Goes Wrong, which transferred to the Duchess Theatre last month following a sell out UK tour, has extended booking until 16 September 2015.
For a limited period, until the end of November, The Play That Goes Wrong will also be the only West End production to offer a family ticket for under £100.
The show originally played at the Old Red Lion, before transferring to the Trafalgar Studios and embarking on a nationwide tour. The show was also the winner of the 2014 WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Comedy.
The play introduces 'The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society’ who are attempting to put on a 1920s’ murder mystery, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong… does, as the accident prone thespians battle on against all the odds to get to their final curtain call.
Producer Kenny Wax has said "our perverse (and reverse) marketing campaign has, in true 'goes wrong' spirit, done everything it possibly can to dissuade people from coming to see the show. The tactic has not worked at all". The unusual (but fitting) marketing campaign for the show featured adverts telling people not to come, fake prices and even threats to cancel the show, which all seems to have worked perfectly with the announcement of this extension.
The Play That Goes Wrong is directed by Mark Bell, with set designs by Nigel Hook, lighting by Ric Mountjoy, sound design by Andy Johnson, costumes by Roberto Surace and is performed by Mischief Theatre members: Rob Falconer, Dave Hearn, Henry Lewis, Charlie Russell, Jonathan Sayer, Henry Shields, Greg Tannahill and Nancy Wallinger.
