Emma Rice debuts her new musical Romantics Anonymous in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare's Globe this week, and we got an exclusive first listen to one of the tracks, "Quelle Surprise".

Sung by Olivier Award-winner Joanna Riding, the song is a quaint exploration of life inside a chocolate factory, where the musical is set.

Alongside Riding, the cast includes Carly Bawden in the role of Angelique, Dominic Marsh as Jean-Rene, Marc Antolin as Ludo, Gareth Snook as Mercier and Natasha Jayetileke as Suzanna and Mimi. Also cast are Philip Cox, Joe Evans and Lauren Samuels. You can see the cast in action below.

The piece has a book from Rice, with lyrics by Christopher Dimond and music from Michael Kooman. It follows Angelique, a shy chocolate maker and the awkward boss of a chocolate factory in a love story. It will be the final production directed by Rice in her role as artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe.

Romantics Anonymous runs at Shakespeare's Globe from 27 October to 6 January with previews now showing.
