Emma Rice is to take on the role of Nora Chance in the production of Wise Children during the final weeks of the show's tour.

Rice's production, which is being staged by her company – also called Wise Children – opened at the Old Vic in October 2018 and has since been touring the country. She will take over the role from Etta Murfitt between 26 March and 6 April, covering performances at Richmond Theatre and Belgrade Theatre.

Rice said: "We've been on such a glorious adventure with our company Wise Children, and I can't think of a better way to finish our debut tour than stepping into the limelight alongside our wonderful cast to perform in Richmond and Coventry. It's an honour to share the stage with them and I'm very much looking forward to it!"

The piece is an adaptation of Angela Carter's novel about twins Nora and Dora Chance whose lives as show girls take them from Vaudeville to Hollywood to Brixton.

The show's touring dates also include the Bristol Old Vic, HOME, Manchester, York Theatre Royal and Storyhouse Chester.
