Don’t just take our word for it – there are no end of adorable couples both living and working together in theatres all across the world, sharing their love with audiences – and our list below is evidence enough. That’s not even scratching the surface of the amazing power couples who work behind-the-scenes in theatre.
Following the recent announcement of Cabaret’s new leads, and to mark 2:22 heading out on tour, we’re looking at couples who have performed together on stage!
Now, we totally respect that these relationships have a right to be private, so have only included couples who openly share their status. Plus, there’s bound to be a load more – so drop us a message on social media if you want to be included with your spouse! We’re happy to spread the love. But remember: you have to have performed together on stage or worked together on the same project, to feature in this article!
Choreographer Fabian Aloise was behind the UK premiere of the SpongeBob musical, in which Lewis Cornay starred in the title role. Since then, Cornay has written and acted in multiple plays and musicals, while Aloise has choreographed across the globe – working closely with Jamie Lloyd on his star-studded productions
The Succession stars jumped from screen to stage together when they appeared in The Score playing husband and wife – a role they’re familiar with in real life, despite playing exes in the hit TV show.
The iconic couple wowed Broadway and the West End when they starred together in Plaza Suite – and also had some very lovely things to say about how much they love the British transport system in our exclusive video above!

The duo first met at the Playhouse Theatre in 2014 while performing in Spamalot, fast forward 11 years, and they’re stronger than ever. See, it always pays to look on the bright side of life..!

All they wanted for Christmas was each other! The two met while playing love interests Buddy the Elf and Jovie in the West End’s Elf, and have since continued their “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” relationship, with a wedding planned.

It’s a real-life love story, oh yes it is! Celebrated actress Sharon D Clarke has been married to celebrated director and actor Susie McKenna. Together they’ve starred in the much-loved Hackney Empire pantomime, which McKenna directs. This Christmas, McKenna will also direct a pantomime at Lewisham’s Art Deco Theatre, honouring Clarke’s parents

West End power couple Hadley Fraser and Rosalie Craig have performed in several productions together throughout their relationship. They played a husband-wife duo in City of Angels, as well as Treason and live-streamed musical Before After.

These two beloved musical theatre stars first met in Back to the Future in the West End! Fast forward and between them, their individual credits include Shucked, The Great Gatsby, Pretty Woman and more!

Heading on tour with Waitress was anything but a “Bad Idea” for Aimee Fisher and George Crawford! The two met during the show and are now engaged, and performing in The Great Gatsby together! That’s a party!

This stagey duo have a long list of credits between them, including Les Misérables, Hamilton, Waitress and more – but new to that list is their first together as a married couple, Elf! In it, Joel Montague plays Buddy and Carrie Hope Fletcher is Jovie.

Merrily, these two have been married for many years! The performers met while in a revival of Stephen Sondheim‘s musical Merrily We Roll Along, and continue to light up our stages with Clare Foster as a recent Olivier Award nominee.

When Mason Alexander Park headed to the Kit Kat Club, we don’t think they expected to leave with a WhatsOnStage Award nomination and a new partner! But they did find love with Sally Frith (currently amazing in Evita BTW), and were able to perform as the Emcee and Sally Bowles respectively for a performance or two.

Mark Gatiss and husband Ian Hallard met while performing in The Boys in the Band and have since performed, written, and directed beloved theatre shows. Their latest collaboration is ABBA play The Way Old Friends Do.
The heat was certainly on for this couple who met on the West End production of Miss Saigon, and now they’re engaged!

They weren’t “Stupid With Love”! Broadway’s original Cady Heron and Aaron Samuels met on the show and took their romance off-stage. Funnily enough, a romance is also blossoming between the West End’s Cady, Charlie Burn and cover Aaron Samuels, Liam Buckland.

These two met working on Moulin Rouge! and have enjoyed a spectacular spectacular relationship, including a recent baby!

She’s the most Tony Award-nominated performer of all time, he’s a Broadway star, and together they make quite the pair! They appeared on stage together in A Moon for the Misbegotten.

Omigod You Guys! This couple met at the Savoy Theatre in Legally Blonde and have been together ever since. Alex Gaumond played Emmett, while Jane McMurtrie was Dance Captain, and Cover Brooke.

These two went Wilde for one another while starring in a revival of The Importance of Being Earnest. They’ve been married since 2010, during that time, they’ve shared the stage again – in Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s 2019 production of The King’s Speech.

These two songbirds met as Broadway’s original Orpheus and Eurydice in Hadestown. Excitingly, they headed way down, London-town earlier this year for a filmed performance in the West End. Miss it? Fear not – the duo will be starring in Cabaret together later this year!

They knew they’d found the “One (Singular Sensation)” when the two appeared together in A Chorus Line at The London Palladium!

These two played newlyweds Elyot and Sybil in Noël Coward’s classic comedy Private Lives, first in Chichester and then in London. Funnily enough, Stephens’ parents, Maggie Smith and Robert Stephens, previously starred in a John Gielgud-directed production.
They did say “I do”, and continue to sing “I do, I do, I do, I do” daily at the Novello, where they star as Donna and Sam in Mamma Mia!.

We don’t need to remind you that the original Broadway cast of Hamilton is absolutely non-stop! But Emmy Raver-Lampman and Daveed Diggs didn’t throw away their shot at romance when they met on the show.

It was more of than just a lusty month for Caroline Sheen and Michael Jibson, when the celebrated couple of actors performed together in a revival of Camelot at the Watermill Theatre!
This couple first met as competitors on Strictly Come Dancing but have since become a force to be reckoned with together, recently becoming the first real-life couple to portray the married characters Parson Nathaniel and Beth in Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds.

Bat Out of Hell has become a fan favourite musical across the nation, and the show has also played host to couple Sharon Sexton and Rob Fowler, who play the dysfunctional couple Sloane and Falco. The pair have also performed a whole wad of concerts together over the years, and appeared in Mamma Mia! at the same time! From paradise by the dashboard to men after midnight…

Their relationship isn’t rocking any boats, it’s smooth-sailing as far as we can tell! Multi-WhatsOnStage Award winner Imelda Staunton met Jim Carter in 1983 during rehearsals for a revival of Guys and Dolls. Performing is a family affair, as their daughter Bessie Carter is currently sharing the stage with her mum in Mrs Warren’s Profession.

It’s a love story that not even the greatest playwright of all time, William Shakespeare himself wrote! Michelle Terry and Paul Ready met while performing Love’s Labour’s Lost at Shakespeare’s Globe together. Since then, the two have led Macbeth at the Globe’s candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, as part of their ongoing love for Shakespeare.
Two cast members from the 1998 tour of West Side Story certainly had a heart full of love – married couple Anna-Jane Casey and Graham MacDuff met on the show and have been going strong ever since – they later reunited in Spamalot!
