Clive Rowe will make his much-anticipated return to Hackney Empire panto this year, reprising the title role in Mother Goose that garnered him an Olivier nomination in 2008.

Sharon D Clarke, who is currently in Porgy and Bess at the Open Air Theatre, will once again star opposite Rowe as Charity.

The production will mark director Susie McKenna and composer Steven Edis' 16th Hackney pantomime, and runs from 22 November 2014 to 4 January 2015.

Clive Rowe and Sharon D Clarke both appeared in Blues in the Night at Hackney Empire earlier this year. Rowe was last seen in panto at the venue in 2010, where he played Dame Daisy in Jack and Beanstalk. Clarke starred in last year's Puss in Boots.

The show promises "dazzling dance routines, colourful costumes and show-stopping songs, performed alongside a stunning live band", and full casting is to be announced.
