Full casting has been announced for Romeo and Juliet, which opens at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield in September.

Freddie Fox and Morfydd Clark are to play the title roles in Jonathan Humphreys' production, which sees Shakespeare’s most famous couple meet and marry in defiance of their rival families.

Clark recently starred in Violence & Son (Royal Court) and Blodeuwedd (Theatr Genedlathol Cymru) with Fox's acting credits including The Judas Kiss (Duke of York’s Theatre), Hay Fever (Noel Coward Theatre) and Cause Célèbre, A Flea in Her Ear (Old Vic).

They will be joined by Scott Arthur (Benvolio), Charlie Bate (Pastor), Joanna Croll (Lady Montague/Sister), Michael Hodgson (Capulet), Jonny Holden (Tybalt), Hugh John (The Prince), Robin Kingsland (Montague), Andrew Leung (Paris/Abram), Rachel Lumberg (The Nurse), Simon Manyonda (Mercutio), Shaun Mason (Sampson/Capitan), Joshua Miles (Peter/Gregory/Balthasar) and Natalie Thomas (Lady Capulet).

The production is designed by Hannah Clark with lighting by Lizzie Powell and sound by Peter Rice.

Romeo and Juliet runs at the Crucible Theatre from 23 September to 17 October 2015.
