Shakespeare's Globe has announced casting for Simon Godwin's forthcoming production of Richard II, starring Charles Edwards in the title role.

Sarah Woodward and Graham Butler, who recently co-starred in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, will play the Duchess of York and Aumerle respectively.

John of Gaunt will be played by William Gaunt, whose recent credits include The Crucible (Old Vic) and The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui (Chichester, West End).

The company also includes Oliver Boot, William Chubb, Henry Everett, Jonny Glynn, Greg Haiste, Angus Imrie, Richard Katz, Ekow Quartey, Anneika Rose, David Sturzaker and Arthur Wilson.

Simon Godwin recently directed The Beaux' Strategem, Man and Superman with Ralph Fiennes and Strange Interlude with Anne-Marie Duff for the National.

Richard II runs in rep from 11 July to 18 October 2015.
