Broadway star Jessica Vosk has taken to social media to detail a dressing room experience she has labelled “really scary.”

Speaking in a 106-second video on Sunday, 17 May on her Instagram feed (linked below), Vosk describes how “a ‘super fan’ made their way back stage to my dressing room after the show, following a group of people who were here for me. I don’t know how that happened.”

The Grammy nominee, whose credits include Wicked, Waitress and Hell’s Kitchen, is currently starring as Cee Cee Bloom in the Broadway run of new musical Beaches, playing at the Majestic Theatre.

She continued: “They came up here and I thought they were a guest of the people who I had here. So I was just saying hello to everybody in the room. And these are all people that I’m close with. So we were talking about the performance and the show and all this kind of stuff. [After] ten minutes, this person was like, ‘I’m not supposed to be here.’ And went on for a long time about things and said how they got back there… I don’t know how it was all made to happen, but it’s really scary when this stuff happens, because then it makes the actor feel, put in a really crappy ass position.”

She concluded: “I know I have not stage door’d [the practice of greeting fans at stage door for signatures or photos] for this show, as it’s a big lift for me… and I have been going, going, going… Please do not try and somehow sneak backstage to someone’s dressing room at a show. It’s really scary for us. It might not feel scary to you. But it is for us.”

Vosk isn’t the first performer to voice their concerns about fans crossing the line with their actions – musical star Lea Salonga had a similar experience when performing in New York.
