American Idiot has announced that it is extending its run at the Arts Theatre and will now be booking until 22 November 2015.

The award-winning Broadway musical – which features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, and a book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer – opened at the Arts Theatre in July.

American Idiot is the story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9-11 world. Its hit songs include "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "21 Guns," "Wake Me Up When September Ends," "Holiday" and the title track "American Idiot".

Commenting on the extension, the producers of American Idiot said: "We have been overawed by the unbelievable response from audiences and are thrilled to be extending our stay at the Arts Theatre. We look forward to welcoming more members to join our Idiot Nation!"

The cast includes Amelia Lily as Whatsername, Steve Rushton as Will and Aaron Sidwell as Johnny.

Directed and choreographed by Racky Plews, the show was previously booking until September. You can watch the trailer for the show here.
