A Hundred Words for Snow to transfer to Trafalgar Studios

Tatty Hennessy's A Hundred Words for Snow is to open in London at the Trafalgar Studios in March next year.

The piece originally ran at the Vault Festival earlier this year and tells the story of Rory on a mission to get the ashes of her Arctic enthusiast dad to the North Pole. It won the Arcola Theatre's Heretic Voices Award for best new plays in monologue form and the Vault Festival's Origins Award.

Polar explorer Felicity Aston MBE is consultant on the piece, which journeys through grief, adolescence and across the Arctic. It runs in London from 5 to 30 March.

Lucy Atkinson directs the piece, which is performed by Gemma Barnett, with lighting design by Lucy Adams and sound design by Mark Sutcliffe.

Hennessy said: "As a female and feminist playwright, I'm excited to write a piece of serious drama focused on a teenage girl, one that takes her difficulties and desires seriously, especially at a time when the pressures and constraints on young women are so varied and complex."
