Kim Kardashian musical to feature in new Grimeborn season

The Arcola Theatre's opera festival Grimeborn is to feature a new Kim Kardashian musical.

The Marriage of Kim K will run as part of the yearly festival and is a new take on Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. Stephen Hyde will write the music, while Leo Mercer has written the book. Stephen Hyde directs the piece which runs from 25 to 29 July.

The piece is set in 2011 after Kardashian televised her wedding to NBA basketball star Kris Humphries and filed for divorce 72 days later. The cast is made up of Yasemin Gulumser, James Edge, Nathan Bellis, Emily Burnett, Stephen Hyde, Amelia Gabriel.

The Grimeborn season also includes The Cunning Little Vixen, which runs from 31 July to 4 August, Une Education Manquee on 2 August, Porgy and Bess from 5 to 6 August and Armide from 8 to 12 August.

Grimeborn is London's fringe opera festival and tickets to shows range from £7 to £22. It features emerging UK opera companies performing new and established pieces.

Having just retained our place in Arts Council England’s National Portfolio, we are able to produce more new works from raw talent, reimagined classics and ambitious plays from thrilling contemporary voices. I look forward to welcoming you to Arcola again soon."

Grimeborn runs at the Arcola Theatre between 25 July and 2 September.
