Joshua McTaggart to step down as artistic director of the Bunker Theatre

Joshua McTaggart is to step down as artistic director of the Bunker Theatre, after founding it in 2016 with producer Joel Fisher.

The space is in a car park, underneath the Menier Chocolate Factory in London Bridge. General manager David Ralf is to continue to lead the theatre in a new role as executive director alongside a new artistic director, who will be appointed this summer.

The Bunker recently announced a new musical theatre initiative with Trafalgar Entertainment Group, designed to support a new musical based on Glasgow's ice cream wars of the 1980s. The musical is to be directed and developed by McTaggart.

McTaggart said: "In just over two years, our team has taken this abandoned underground car park and
transformed it into a thriving hub of creativity and performance. I am immensely proud of everything we have achieved, and I have had the true privilege of working and collaborating with some of the most generous and talented artists our country has to offer."

The 110-seater space has staged shows including Skin a Cat, Devil With The Blue Dress and Eyes Closed, Ears Covered.

Applications for the artistic director open today. McTaggart has been appointed CEO and artistic director of Chelsea Theatre and will oversee a major capital redevelopment.
