Hugh Grant made a rare stage appearance last night (13 January) when he guest starred in a production put on by The Baked Bean Theatre Company.

Grant was introduced to the group, which is comprised of actors with learning disabilities, by his friend Nigel Hollins.

He revealed recently how the experience had enlivened his love of stage acting. "I often have a moan about acting as a job when I'm doing interviews... [but] I had a real laugh doing plays at school and university," he told the Guardian.

"I genuinely loved the performing, the excitement, the bonding, the romances with the girl playing Masha, the cast parties, the bitching, everything."

So could the day be coming when a wider audience gets a glimpse of the Four Weddings and Bridget Jones star on stage? Possibly. He was asked by ITV's Good Morning Britain whether he would consider a West End role: "Yes, if it was a one-week run - I get a bit bored after one week," he replied.
