Theatre has birthed some of the greatest characters of all time – Willy Lowman, Lady Hamlet, Effie White – to name but a few.

But who are your favourite? We want to know all in our brand new poll, asking you to pick your top theatre roles. They can either be entirely original, real people or based on film and book figures.
