Evita cast at Open Air Theatre includes Samantha Pauly in Jamie Lloyd's production

Casting for the Open Air Theatre's production of Evita has been announced.

Samantha Pauly, who starred in the National tour of Bat Out of Hell in Chicago and will star in Six's Chicago premiere in May, is to make her UK debut as Evita in the production, which is directed by Jamie Lloyd.

The show also stars Trent Saunders (American Idiot) as Che, Frances Mayli McCann (Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour) as The Mistress and Ektor Rivera (On Your Feet! on Broadway) as Peron.

Lloyd was previously assistant director on Michael Grandage's production of Evita in the West End in 2006.
Fabian Aloise is to choreograph the show, Soutra Gilmour is designer, Alan Williams is musical supervisor, Jon Clark is lighting designer and Nick Lidster for Autograph is sound designer. It will run from 2 August to 21 September.

Evita is Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's musical which focuses on the life of Eva Peron, the Argentinian political leader and second wife of the Argentinian president Juan Peron. It premiered in the West End in 1978 and features songs including "Don't Cry For Me Argentina!" and "Another Suitcase in Another Hall".
