Full casting has been announced for the new production of Off-Broadway musical Striking 12, which opens at the Union Theatre later this month.

Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Matchgirl, the piece fuses pop, rock, jazz and more to tell the story of down-and-out Brendan, who has a chance encounter with a lightbulb seller.

Declan Bennett (Jesus Christ Superstar) will play Brendan in the piece, while Bronté Barbé (Beautiful) will play The Little Match Girl.

Joining them are Danielle Kassaraté (Wildfire) as Narrator, with Kate Robson-Stuart (Once) and Leon Scott (Othello) completing the ensemble.

The piece has music by Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda (from the band GrooveLily) with book and lyrics by Milburn, Vigoda and Rachel Sheinkin.

Directed by Oliver Kaderbhai (Peter Pan), Striking 12 has design by Natalie Johnson; lighting design by Alex Lewer, musical direction by Ashley Harvey, choreography by Oliver Kaderbhai and Marah Stafford.

The piece runs from 28 November to 23 December.
