Star of the upcoming UK tour of Captain Corelli's Mandolin Alex Mugnaioni has managed to misplace his mandolin.

Following an 18:34 Southeastern train journey from London Bridge to Sidcup, Mugnaioni realised he was no longer carrying the 129 year-old instrument that he had been rehearsing with.

Producers are now urging commuters or train passengers to help find the mandolin, and are advised to contact info@nml.org.uk if they have any information.

Mugnaioni said: "We spent a long time hunting for the perfect Mandolin, it's devastating to lose it so close to the show. I'm playing throughout the show and you create quite a connection with an instrument. If anyone has picked it up by mistake we'd be so grateful for its return."

Anyone who finds it will be rewarded with tickets to the show's opening night at Rose Theatre, Kingston on 25 April.
