Brief Encounter extends its West End run

The Kneehigh production of Brief Encounter, adapted and directed by Emma Rice, will extend its run in the West End with a new round of tickets on sale today.

The piece, which opened earlier this year at the specially adapted cinema in the West End on Haymarket, stars Jim Sturgeon as Alec, Isabel Pollen as Laura, Lucy Thackeray as Myrtle, Beverly Rudd as Beryl, Jos Slovick as Stanley and Dean Nolan as Fred/Albert, with Katrina Kleve and Peter Dukes.

It follows a series of couples dealing with romantic trysts, ranging from forbidden to fledging love, with design by Neil Murray, lighting by Malcolm Rippeth, original music by Stu Barker, sound by Simon Baker and projection by Gemma Carrington amd Jon Driscoll.

In his review for WhatsOnStage, Alex Wood said the production was "a joy ride for punters looking for a master-crafted piece of storytelling."

After concluding its run in the West End, the show will embark on a world tour in 2019.
