Christopher Durang's Tony Award-winning play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike will have its UK premiere at the Ustinov Studio at Theatre Royal Bath this summer.

Directed by Tony Award-winning US director Walter Bobbie, the farcical play is loosely based on Chekhov's most classic works, with famous movie star Masha returning to her Pennsylvania hometown to meet her siblings Vanya and Sonia, alongside her 20-something toy-boy boyfriend Spike.

The piece first ran at the McCarter Theatre in 2012 before transferring to Broadway, where it was nominated for six Tony Awards, winning Best New Play.

The show runs from 6 June to 6 July, with casting and further creative team to be announced.

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike runs as part of Theatre Royal Bath's summer season, which features a production of Uncle Vanya adapted by David Hare starring Rupert Everett and a revival of Noël Coward's Blithe Spirit starring Jennifer Saunders.
