– With just over a month before thousands of keen culture vultures descend upon the Scottish city, the 2009 Edinburgh International Festival is gearing up for its biggest year yet. This year’s offerings take inspiration from The Scottish Enlightenment – an incredible period in the 18th century which saw a huge surge of intellectual, artistic and scientific accomplishments, so you can be sure to see some ground breaking work along with the usual mix of music, theatre, art and street performances.
