WOS Mag: Take That Tributes, Making Marguerite

The latest issue of our sister print title What’s On Stage Magazine is out today (Friday 2 May 2008), available in 35 participating London theatres as well as selected hotels, restaurants and tourist bureaux.

Amongst the great features on offer in the May 2008 issue are:

  • NEVER SAY NEVER – As the West End welcomes Never Forget, about an unlikely Take That tribute band, we pay our own tribute to the boys in both bands.

  • GO EAST! – Theatregoing east of the West End is made easy with this handy readers’ guide, part of our ongoing series.

  • MARGUERITE IN THE MAKING – Roger Foss talks to the stars and members of the creative team involved in the world premiere of the new musical Marguerite, including Michel Legrand, Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schonberg, Herbert Kretzmer and Jonathan Kent.

  • NEW FACES ON THE BLOCK – What have Polly Stenham, Bola Agbaje, Levi David Addai and Mike Bartlett got in common? They all hail from the Royal Court’s Young Writers Programme and they are all talents worth watching, says Michael Coveney. We’ve also got all of your favourite regular magazine sections, including Headliners (news, previews and a snippet interview with The Deep Blue Sea’s Greta Scacchi), Up for Grabs competitions, Limelight pictures, this month’s What’s On Guide diary and listings, Brief Encounter (with “mind-reader” Derren Brown, who brings An Evening of Wonders to the West End this month), Recommended (theatregoer raves about recent openings) and, last but not least, Critical Comment, in which our columnist, Guardian critic Michael Billington, questions the enduring battle of the “epic” play.
