Priscilla Bus Bound for Broadway???

By • West End
There were revelations aplenty at last night's Whatsonstage.com Awards Concert (not least those concerning Christopher Biggins and Jude Law!) but one of the major announcements came courtesy of Priscilla Queen of the Desert producer Gary McQuinn.

Accepting the award for Best Choreographer on behalf of the late Ross Coleman, Quinn confirmed rumours that the Australian screen-to-stage musical is planning a Broadway transfer in 2011.

Paying tribute to Coleman, Quinn said: “Ross was one of our greatest choreographers in Australia … We are thrilled that he was able to make his West End debut with Priscilla and we are very disappointed he will not be able to join us for our debut on Broadway, which previews a year from today”.

Priscilla, which opened at the West End's Palace Theatre last March, also picked up Whatonstage.com Awards  for Best Set Designer (Brian Thomson) and Best Supporting Actor in a Musical (Oliver Thornton). The company, including Jason Donovan and Tony Sheldon, then closed the Concert with rousing renditions of “Colour My World” and “I Will Survive”.
