Raising Silver Theatre and The Old Red Lion Theatre present The Firewatchers, a new play by Laura Stevens that explores the lives of two ordinary women working as firewatchers on a factory rooftop in London 1942.

The Firewatchers stars Abigail Thaw and Michelle Tate and plays at The Old Red Lion until 3 December.  We caught up with playwright Laura Stevens and director Katie Lewis, who gave us five reasons why you should see the show…

1)   The Actors
See two very talented actors – Abigail Thaw and Michelle Tate – at work in an intimate two-hander.

2)   New Writing
See a brand new play that will transport you back to London during WW2 London and find out what it was like for the women left at home who had to deal with the awful reality of war in their own way.

3)  Learn something new
Find out what firewatching was all about and how it worked!

4)  Support a new all female company
Raising Silver Theatre is committed to providing opportunities for female practitioners and telling stories with a focus on the female experience. Playwright Laura Stevens and director Katie Lewis are joined by the talented creative producer Esther Nissard and designer Jess Wiesner.

5) The Experience
Have a fun and surprising evening, and brace yourself for unexpected twists and turns in the story!

The Firewatchers continues at the Old Red Lion until 3 December 2011.
