Casting has been announced for Theatre Royal Plymouth's The War Has Not Yet Started, which opens at Southwark Playhouse in January.

Directed by Gordon Anderson, the cast features Miranda star Sarah Hadland (The Norman Conquests, Chichester) alongside Hannah Britland (Hobson’s Choice – Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Lovesick – Netflix) and Mark Quartley (The Tempest – RSC).

Mikhail Durnenkov's play, translated by Noah Birksted-Breen, is a surreal comedy about everyday people fighting everyday wars.

It will have designs by Bob Bailey, lighting by Andy Purves and sound by Ed Lewis.

The production is part of Theatre Royal Plymouth's mini-season at the Southwark Playhouse. Entitled Strange Tales (from the West Country), the season sees two shows running in rep in the Playhouse's smaller space, The Little. The second play is Glenn Waldron's The Here and This and Now.

The War Has Not Yet Started runs at Southwark Playhouse from 19 January to 10 February, with previews from 17 January.
