My Top 5 Showtunes: Collabro's Michael Auger

Find out which musical numbers this ”Britain’s Got Talent” winner couldn’t live without

Michael Auger is one fifth of the Britain's Got Talent-winning group Collabro. Since winning the show the boyband's first album "Stars" debuted at number one and their second album "Act Two" was released last month.

We caught up with Michael and asked him: "If you were stranded on a desert island, which five showtunes could you not live without?"

"Why God Why?" from ''Miss Saigon

MA: When Miss Saigon came back on the West End recently I just had to see it. It is such a moving story and the music is incredible throughout. I have seen it many times and this song is the point in the show when Chris realises he cares for Kim and from then on, the story isn't quite the fairytale ending you'd expect!

"Dancing Through Life" from Wicked

MA: Wicked is one of my all time favourites! The way the plot fits around the Wizard of Oz making the 'Wicked Witch' to be the heroine of this musical is fantastic. "Dancing Through Life" is sung by Fiyero, a guy who is carefree in life, something I think we would all love to be.

"Ladies Choice" from Hairspray

MA: Zac Efron played Link in the film version of this musical. I love that musicals can be shared through other mediums other than stage and this song is really up tempo and fun, along with most of the songs from the musical!

"Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" from Les Miserables

MA: Marius is a dream role of mine and Les Miserables as a musical is one of the most iconic of all time! This song is so moving and so exposing that you really feel the actors emotion!

"Starlight Express" from Starlight Express

MA: Growing up, I used to listen to Starlight Express over and over! I even learnt to roller skate thinking that when I grew up I'd need it to be able to be in it! The musical can have many meanings but my interpretation is that if you believe in something you can achieve it, much like the Collabro journey.
