Josette Simon will star alongside Mel Giedroyc in the upcoming UK premiere of Luce.

Simon, who has been awarded an OBE for services to drama, will take on the role of Harriet in the piece, which is about the fear of homegrown terrorism.

Giedroyc will play Amy, whose academic high-flying son seems to be dabbling with explosives.

Simon won an Evening Standard and Critics' Circle Award for After the Fall at the National Theatre as well as an Olivier Award nomination for best actress. Her previous credits include Don Carlos, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Love's Labour's Lost for the RSC.

Simon Dormandy directs Luce, following his production of his own stage adaptation of The Hudsucker Proxy.

Luce runs at Southwark Playhouse from 11 March to 2 April.
