Exclusive: Jersey Boys to embark on international tour

Theatre company Selladoor have also announced they will tour a production of ”The Producers” later this year

A brand new production of the Olivier Award-winning musical Jersey Boys will embark on an international tour starting in October this year.

The musical, which tells the true story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, features the hits such as "Sherry", "1963 (Oh What a Night)", "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Who Loves You". The production opened at the Prince Edward Theatre in 2008, before later moving to the Piccadilly Theatre where it will close on 26 March 2017.

Luke Sheppard will direct the touring production of the musical, which has a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice with music by Bob Guadio and lyrics by Bob Crewe.

Theatre company Selladoor have previously toured productions of Avenue Q, James and The Giant Peach and Seussical around the world, and will take the production to Dubai and China this winter.

Selladoor have also announced a deal to tour a new production of The Producers worldwide later this year. Further details are yet to be announced.

David Hutchinson, executive creative producer of Selladoor said: 'With the tour of Jersey Boys announced today and at least one other large scale production in the pipeline to tour internationally in the autumn, we are making huge steps towards achieving our goal to present work to the widest possible audience.

'We are committed to expanding our connections and goals internationally and in the wake of turbulent political horizons are driven to continue to break down cultural borders and build solid worldwide partnerships.'

The international production of Jersey Boys will open at the Dubai Opera on 11 October before touring to Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou and Beijing, with further dates to be announced.

Jersey Boys runs at the Piccadilly Theatre until 26 March 2017.
