Gary Trainor will take over from David Fynn in the lead role of Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock later this month.

Trainor has played the role of alternate Dewey Finn since the show's premiere in October. His other West End credits include Beautiful, I Can't Sing and The Shawshank Redemption.

Stephen Leask (One Man, Two Guvnors) joins the cast as alternate Dewey alongside existing cast members Florence Andrews as Rosalie Mullins, Oliver Jackson as Ned Schneebly and Preeya Kalidas as Patty Di Marco.

Lloyd Webber, Julian Fellowes and Glenn Slater's musical opened on Broadway in 2015 and transferred to the West End last year.

Based on the 2003 film starring Jack Black, the musical tells the story of Dewey, a musician who pretends to be his friend Ned Schneebly so he can get a job as a teacher. He then puts together a band with his pupils who enter into the Battle of the Bands.

School of Rock is currently booking at the New London Theatre until 14 January 2018.
