Dates and further casting announced for Follies

Dates and further casting has been announced for the National Theatre's production of Follies.

The production, which will star Tracie Bennett, Janie Dee and Imelda Staunton as the Follies girls in 1971 New York, will open on 6 September, with previews from 22 August.

Joining the also previously announced cast members Josephine Barstow, Philip Quast and Peter Forbes will be Di Botcher, Billy Boyle, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Emily Goodenough, Bruce Graham, Fred Haig, Aimee Hodnett, Dawn Hope, Liz Izen, Alison Langer, Emily Langham, Sarah Marie Maxwell, Kate Parr, Edwin Ray, Gary Raymond, Adam Rhys-Charles, Jordan Shaw, Barnaby Thompson, Christine Tucker and Alex Young.

Stephen Sondheim’s musical, with a book by James Goldman, is about the reunion of the Weismann's Follies in a crumbling Broadway theatre, scheduled for demolition.

The musical, directed by Dominic Cooke, features an orchestra of 21 and includes songs such as "Losing My Mind", "I'm Still Here" and "Could I Leave You?".

Follies will open at the National Theatre on 6 September, with previews from 22 August.
