Annie (Stage Experience – Liverpool)

Right now, a young local cast are bringing the vibrant Annie to the Liverpool Empire Theatre. Based upon Harold Gray’s Little Orphan Annie comic strip, this family favourite presents charming young Annie, locked away in the deprived orphanage by the cruel Miss Hannigan. After continuous escape attempts Annie and her dog, Sandy, are taken in by generous millionaire, Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks. In a mission to try and find her birth parents, this truly becomes the ultimate rags to riches tale.

The cast do an incredible job as this thrilling show does captivate audiences of all ages. Alice Carlile who plays Annie is as adorable as ever and the relationship between her and Tom Hogan’s Daddy Warbucks is uplifting. Crafty Miss Hannigan is played by the playful Vanessa Booth and “Easy Street” is one of the more electric performances of the show.  Laura Meeson and Lauren Taylor’s choreography is very neat and is maximised through the cast’s unison.

The excitement on the stage is reflected in the performance of the young cast and you can feel the energy ripple through the audience as each act and song is strongly applauded and the show even receives a standing ovation.

Such recognisable songs such as “It’s A Hard Knock Life”, “Easy Street” and “Tomorrow” are delivered powerfully, doing the long running production true justice.

Stage Experience’s Annie is a moving and exciting production and is definitely one not to miss!
