Award-winning If That’s All There Is at Unity

Inspector Sands visit the Liverpool Unity Theatre with its award-winning production If That’s All There Is, before heading on a national tour.

Winner of the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe Prize 2009, If That’s All There is has been commissioned by the Lyric Hammersmith and was a sell out at the Traverse Theatre at the Edinburgh Festival last year. The show is embarking on a four-week tour of the UK, finishing with a two-week run at the Battersea Arts Centre in London.

A couple are teetering on the brink of marriage. As the happiest day of their lives approaches, the panic begins to rise. And everyone’s watching.

Through the eyes of a jaded therapist and an awkward teenage girl the audience witnesses a case study of longing, envy, disappointment and violent urges, examining people’s obsession with seeking fulfilment at any cost.

Inspired by the Peggy Lee version of the bittersweet existential song ‘Is That All There Is?’ by Lieber and Stoller, the production uses a bold visual style and absurd humour to explore the great effort we invest in seeking fulfilment.

If That’s All There Is arrives to the Unity Theatre on Tuesday 23 February.
