Tracie Bennett replaces Janie Dee in Mrs Henderson Presents

Dee, who completes her run in ”The Seagull” at the Open Air Theatre this week, has withdrawn for personal reasons

Olivier Award-winning actress Tracie Bennett has joined the cast of Mrs Henderson Presents, taking over from Janie Dee who has withdrawn for personal reasons.

Bennett received Olivier Awards for her performances in the musicals She Loves Me and Hairspray, and was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance as Judy Garland in the Broadway production of the biopic play End of the Rainbow

Rehearsals begin today for the new British musical Mrs Henderson Presents which runs at the Theatre Royal Bath from 15 August to 5 September, prior to a West End run.

Don Black, George Fenton and Simon Chamberlain's musical is based on the 2005 film starring Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins, which tells the true story of Laura Henderson, an eccentric widow who ran a nude revue at the Windmill Theatre in London's Soho in the 1940s.

The cast also includes Julie Armstrong, Sarah Bakker, Ian Bartholomew, Katie Bernstein, Andrew Bryant, Rhiannon Chesterman, Lizzy Connolly, Alexander Delamere, Mark Hadfield, Victoria Hay, Graham Hoadly, Samuel Holmes, Lauren Hood, Oliver Jackson, Katrina Kleve, Matthew Malthouse, Jane Milligan, Neil Stewart, Emma Williams and Dickie Wood.
