Ghost Stories Closes at Duke of York’s, 19 Jun

Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson‘s theatrical thriller, Ghost Stories will end its run at the Duke of York’s Theatre on 19 June, the production had previously been booking until 2 October 2011.

Ghost Stories was originally co-produced by the Lyric Hammersmith with the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse where it premiered in February 2010. The play opened in the West End on 13 July 2010 (previews from 25 June).

The 80-minute piece is billed as a “truly terrifying theatrical experience” and carries a warning that it is unsuitable for anyone under the age of 16. The thriller also recently transferred to Canada, opening at Toronto’s Panasonic Theatre on 1 April 2011.

The producers today (5 May 2011) said in a statement the show had enjoyed “phenomenal success” at The Duke of York’s Theatre and had been seen by over 200,000 theatregoers. They went on to say they are hoping to tour the production’s “unique sense of scary fun” to audiences across the UK with plans for a full tour in autumn 2012.

The West End production currently stars John Lightbody, David Cardy, Ryan Gage and Andy Nyman who also directs. The production is also directed by Jeremy Dyson and Sean Holmes with design by Jon Bausor and lighting design by James Farncombe – winner of this year’s Whatsonstage.com Award. It is produced in the West End by the Lyric Hammersmith and Phil McIntyre Entertainments.
