The Bodyguard tour starring Alexandra Burke announces more dates and venues

Further dates and venues have been announced for the new UK and Ireland tour of The Bodyguard, which will star Alexandra Burke.

Opening in Glasgow in December, The Bodyguard will now visit Southampton's Mayflower Theatre from 28 May to 8 June, Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall from 11 June to 22 June, Newcastle's Theatre Royal from 23 July to 3 August and to Dublin's Bord Gais Energy Theatre from 7 to 17 August.

The hit musical, which is based on the film of the same name starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, follows a secret service agent-turned-bodyguard Frank Farmer, who is hired to protect singer Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker.

Burke (currently appearing in Chicago in the West End) returns to the role of Marron after playing the role in London and on a 2015/16 UK tour. The production had its world premiere at the Adelphi Theatre in 2012, where it was nominated for four Olivier Awards.

The piece is directed by Thea Sharrock with book by Oscar winner Alex Dinelaris (Birdman).
